“I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. Fantastic show by two wonderful people, filled with love and harmony,” - Audience member, Fall 2023 Tour.
Wrapping their highly successful 16-stop Canadian Fall Tour, longtime pals and frequent tour partners, Danny Michel & Steve Poltz hit the stage with their own solo sets “and sweeten the evening” with impromptu collaborations. Carefree. Fearless—and hilarious! “You have to be there to see it LIVE. Expect the unexpected!” -Jenna Melanson, Canadian Beats.
With three Juno nominations, the Polaris Prize, The CBC “Heart Of Gold” and a pile of albums under his belt, Danny Michel is unquestionably one of Canada’s finest songwriters. He is celebrated for his thoughtful lyrics & earnest performances which have earned him a wide, devoted fan base. A musical chameleon, he is able to slip into many musical genres with ease: An adventurous, fearless artist, he is “a master at striking the right balance between unpredictability and meeting expectations, leaving audiences wanting more as soon as it’s over.”
Danny’s single “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” from his album Ghost Town was the #1 Fan Voted Song Of The Year on CBC Music’s Top 20 in 2022, and won two Canadian Folk Music Awards for Producer of the Year and Pushing the Boundaries in 2017 for his album Khlebnikov. He last performed in Vernon in 2015 as the frequently featured musical guest with the late, widely-loved Stuart McLean as part of his touring The Vinyl Café show. Of Danny Michel, McLean said: “Just fabulous. He’s kind of like Paul Simon in the Rhymin’ Simon days.”
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Steve Poltz is known for his engaging acoustic performances. The world got to know Steve when he co-wrote two tracks from Jewel’s diamond-certified debut album Pieces of You, including the multi-platinum Billboard Hot 100’s #2 “You Were Meant for Me” (also appearing in the official video). He delivered his own full-length debut One Left Shoe in 1998 and paved the way for an extensive solo catalogue, defined by what he calls “evocative lyrics mixed with positivity and traces of tragicomedy.” Recent hits include "Quarantine Blues," "Ballin’ On A Wednesday," "Conveyor Belt," and "Miles In My Heart".
On his website, Poltz posts: “I’m just a weirdo, a freak, a bon vivant, a rounder, a rabble rouser, a workaholic, a people pleaser, an idiot and a grateful kid who ran away and joined the circus.” And on YouTube (2016): “Hey God, I'll Trade You Donald Trump for Leonard Cohen?"
A fan from the Fall 2023 tour proclaimed: “You two are like a beautiful old married couple—haha! What a duo! Best show!”
