Event Notes
Inspired by the legendary myth of Odysseus,
X (Dix)
is about adventuring into the unknown and the challenges of finding your way back home. Internationally acclaimed choreographer Guillaume Côté (Principal Dancer, National Ballet of Canada) blends classical ballet vocabulary with modern sensibilities to explore this legendary tale.
The number ten (dix) is a symbol of completeness associated with the cycle of life and transformation, journey and destination.
X (Dix)
features dancers Guillaume Côté (or Natasha Poon Woo), Martha Hart, Kelly Shaw, Ben Landsberg and Rakeem Hardy and explores the idea of the “inner compass” and that “home” may only be a state a mind rather than a physical place. The five performers share a minimalist stage setting amplified by the surging and sculptural sounds of Oscar-winning American experimental band Son Lux.
