× ‘Maria Chapdelaine’, an opera in 4 acts created by Vernon’s own Jim Leonard. It is a coming of age story set in 1920s rural Quebec. The opera is fully staged. Cvetozar Vutev is music director, Lana O’Brian the stage director and set designer, Susan Schaffer the concertmaster, with the chorus, and musicians coming from across the region. Hear exciting young and upcoming singers in leading roles – from Lethbridge, Penticton, Vancouver, and some of your local favourites. The production celebrates Canadian history and Canadian music. ‘Maria Chapdelaine’ opens the 4th annual Vernon Proms Classical Music Festival. More information: www.vernonproms.ca
