Sankofa Danzafro - The City of Others
Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. The City of Others by Sankofa Danzafro is a poignant musical and dance show from Colombia, highlighting ethnic discrimination and social inequality. In this performance, African communities reclaim political and social power, transcending racism and prejudice. Sankofa means "to return to the roots"; more than a word, it is an African philosophy that proposes to know the past as a condition for understanding the present and being able to measure the future. It searches for poetics that start from the roots of Afro dance, combined with contemporary movement.
